How little we value young lives

There are countless victims in the list of missing children which is a horrific tale of the world yet the number continues to rise. Someone is fighting for survival and some is abandoned, pushed to drug trafficking and sold to ruthless people doing business of ill repute. Some of the missing children are exploited and assaulted to an exploitable relationship. All of them are paying a heavy price as neither the Govt. nor the Rehabilitation centers put any concrete and workable effort for stopping the trend.

Many of the parents even do not know if their child is sold or murdered, lost or stolen by the gangs operating in the country. The authorities are equipped with the advanced monitoring technology but they could not ascertain the conclusive figurers of cases of children who are missing. It is also a hard truth that these organizations often treat the complaints of parents indifferently and actually show the down sizeable figures in their official records which is just an eye wash. Since the chances of getting back a child who has been untraceable for more than a decade, further delay in tracing them would be dangerous.

Most of the children missing are generally living below the poverty line, living in slums or unauthorized colonies. The present system of the concerned authorities is not going to yield conclusive result until the proper tracking system is formed and followed scrupulously. The different executive bodies need to have a better cooperation between them so as to bring out some satisfactory solution to the problem in question. Obviously, if the care to trace out the young lives is so little, it would be a shameful matter for all of us. Thousands of parents have shown their anger towards the agencies to end up the trafficking, but the outcome of their anger is still awaited.

The matter of worries to us is that why the missing children are never found. The pain to be away from the child given birth and the feeling of losing your own blood can be only understood by the one who has faced this trauma. Time has come when the parents of the children need to teach their children about the steps to be taken when they feel isolated from their parents or place of living. The prevention is only possible when we all take extra care of our children and watch them closely. However, it will be effective when the community also initiate similar type of steps and extend a helping hand in order to combat the trafficking or get back the missing children.

These highly organized gangs involved in this inhuman act should be banned completely and the sensitization of local police, are some of the important steps to be taken by the authorities concerned. Besides pressure is required to be mounted on local police/agency to trace out the missing children as quickly as possible. The hideouts of these organized gangs also need to be retrieved saving the young lives which is our next generation. The objective is to make all of us aware about the matter so as to bring down the number of missing children and put an end to human trafficking.

The following necessary action is required to be taken by parents, guardians or caretakers immediately after a child goes missing:

- To lodge a first information report (FIR) with the local police and retain a copy of the same for record and reference.

= A copy of latest photograph of missing child with his full description including clothes he was wearing at the time of missing is also needed by the police for early discovery.

= Social organizations/Rehabilitation centers also need to be informed about the matter.

= The missing report should also be given wide publicity in the local/leading newspapers along with photograph of the missing child.

= If the financial status of parents is sound, they may think of announcing cash rewards for giving clue or discovery of the child.

= Always keep in touch with the local police and immediately inform them if any anonymous caller demands for a ransom for releasing the missing child..

= local police authority needs to be consulted and taken into confidence if the parents insist for giving ransom amount. This is absolutely essential for the sake of missing child as sometime the gangs take the ransom amount but do not hand over the missing child for certain reasons.for their safety.

= Parents should not experiment any other tactic for discovery of the missing child .

Thanks for a wonderful Hub on what we can do to help with finding these missing children. It is so sad so many haven't been found. Very good pointers to follow, excellent writing.
